What Trace is for
Trace is for planning and reflective journalling — student artefacts over time, not a one-off quiz. It sits in the Lab family as a process and reflection tool.
Use Trace when you want students to plan, journal, and revisit thinking across a unit — not only to submit a finished answer. Entries become a trail you can mentor against: what they intended, what they tried, and what they learned.
- Planning panels — structure the work before they write or make
- Journal entries — reflective writing tied to the class activity
- Mentor agreements — shared expectations between teacher and student where you set them up
How you use it
- Open your Module → Lab → Create Trace activity.
- Configure prompts, planning structure, and any mentor agreements, then publish.
- Students open the activity from the Module Workroom.
- Review progress from class Trace views and Workroom — coach the thinking trail, not only the final product.
Trace pairs well with Spark or Flux: students plan and reflect in Trace, then produce the assessed response in a writing app.
