What Latch is for
Latch is categorise-and-match: students drag chips from a Holding Cell into the right rows — shot types into a storyboard, labels into categories, or any “put this with that” task.
In Media Arts, Latch is often a shot list: students match Wide, Close Up, Two Shot, Slow Mo, and so on to script beats (subject and action). The same pattern works for any subject where students must classify and place items correctly.
How a student session works
- Holding Cell — unused chips wait here until dragged onto a row
- Rows — shot #, shot type drop zone, subject, action / description
- Check My Work — first check free; later checks may cost a grade penalty (shown on the Mastery Meter)
- Submit final — when the match-up is ready
- Read script — open the source script or brief if you attached one
The Mastery Meter unlocks after Check My Work so students see colour-coded match quality — then they can revise chips before a final submit.
How you set it up
- Open your Module → Lab → Create Latch activity (or generate rows with AI where available).
- Build the chip set and rows; publish to the Module Workroom.
- Students open the session, place chips, check work, and submit.
- Review results from Workroom / Latch results views.
